Automatic Photocell Street Light Switch – AC220V 10A

Never manually flip a switch again. This waterproof photocell sensor switch automatically turns your outdoor street lights, yard lights, or security lights on at dusk and off at dawn — saving energy and effort every single day. Built with high-quality alloy and plastic construction, it's designed to handle real-world outdoor conditions with ease.

Why You'll Love It

  • Fully Automatic Operation: Light-sensing photocell technology detects ambient light levels and switches your lights on or off without any manual input.
  • Anti-Interference Delay Circuit: A built-in delay circuit prevents false triggering from passing car headlights, flashlights, lightning flashes, or momentary shadow from falling leaves.
  • Wide Temperature Range: Operates reliably from -20°C to +50°C, making it suitable for year-round outdoor use in varied climates.
  • Energy Efficient: Maximum power consumption of just 2.0W keeps your electricity usage minimal.
  • High Sensitivity: Activates at illumination below 30 Lux (dusk/darkness) and deactivates above 150 Lux (daylight), ensuring precise and consistent switching.
  • Weatherproof Design: Waterproof housing keeps internal components protected from rain and moisture.
  • Easy Wiring: Simple 3-wire connection — white + black to power supply; white + red to load.

How It Works

The switch integrates a photosensitive element with an executive relay and delay circuit. During daylight hours, strong ambient light increases the current through the photosensitive element, causing the relay to release and keeping the lights off. As light fades at dusk, the relay engages and activates your connected lights. At sunrise, the rising light level triggers the circuit again and the lights turn off automatically — effortlessly repeating the cycle every day.

Installation Tips

  • Install the sensor head in a location that receives natural daylight — avoid positioning it in shaded areas or near other artificial light sources that could affect its readings.
  • Connect white + black wires to your power supply and white + red wires to the load (your light fixture).
  • Ensure all wiring connections are weatherproofed for long-term outdoor installation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What voltage does this photocell sensor switch support?

A: This automatic light switch is designed for AC 220V systems operating at 50–60 Hz, with a maximum current rating of 10A. It is not compatible with 110V systems.

Q: Will passing car headlights or a flashlight accidentally trigger the switch?

A: No. The built-in delay circuit is specifically designed to ignore brief or sudden light sources such as car headlights, flashlights, or lightning. Only a sustained change in ambient light levels — like actual dawn or dusk — will trigger the switch.

Q: Can this switch be used outdoors year-round?

A: Yes. The waterproof housing and wide operating temperature range (-20°C to +50°C) make it suitable for continuous outdoor use in most climates, including rain and cold weather conditions.

Q: What types of lights can I connect to this photocell switch?

A: This switch is compatible with any street light, yard light, garden light, or security light fixture running on AC 220V, as long as the total load does not exceed 10A.
