How to Use

  1. Prepare the fabric: Lightly mist the hem area with water and gently squeeze out any excess droplets.
  2. Position the tape: Lay the trouser hem flat (smooth out minor wrinkles) and place the tape along the inside of the trouser opening, white-silk side facing down, centred at the fold line.
  3. Iron to bond: Using a steam iron set between 130 °C and 160 °C, press firmly (without sliding) for approximately 15 seconds from one end of the tape to the other. Allow to cool before wearing.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What types of fabric work best with this iron-on hem tape?

A: This no-sew hem tape works well on most woven fabrics including cotton, polyester blends, linen, denim, and lightweight wool. It is ideal for trousers, dress pants, uniforms, and casual slacks. Avoid use on delicate fabrics such as silk, chiffon, or very sheer materials that may be damaged by heat.

Q: Is the bond permanent, and can the hem be adjusted later?

A: The iron-on bond is strong and long-lasting under normal wear and washing conditions. If you need to re-adjust the hem, applying steam and gentle heat can soften the adhesive, allowing you to reposition. For best results, test on a small fabric scrap before full application.

Q: How much tape do I need for one pair of trousers?

A: A standard pair of trousers typically requires approximately 80–100 cm of tape (40–50 cm per leg). With 5 metres per roll, you should be able to hem approximately 5–6 pairs of trousers from a single roll.

Q: Can this hem tape be used in a regular dry iron instead of a steam iron?

A: A steam iron is recommended for the best bond, as moisture helps activate the adhesive. If you only have a dry iron, lightly dampen the fabric with a water spray before pressing. Maintain the temperature between 130 °C and 160 °C to avoid scorching the fabric.
