Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Does this iron-on hem tape work on all fabric types?
A: This fusible hem tape works well on most woven and knit fabrics including cotton, denim, linen, and polyester blends. It is not recommended for very smooth, silky, or non-stick synthetic fabrics as the adhesive may not bond properly. For heavy fabrics, layer two or more strips for a stronger hold.
Q: Is the bond permanent, and can the fabric be washed?
A: Yes — once heat-activated, the bond is strong and durable. The hem holds securely through multiple machine washes and dry-cleaning cycles. For best results, allow the bonded area to cool fully before washing and avoid using high heat in the dryer until the bond is well-set.
Q: How do I avoid iron marks or damage when using this tape?
A: Always use a damp pressing cloth between the iron and the fabric. Move the iron back and forth rather than leaving it stationary in one spot, and avoid pressing at temperatures higher than the fabric's recommended heat setting. This prevents any residue or heat damage to delicate fabrics.
Q: Can this hem tape replace sewing for heavy-duty applications?
A: This tape is designed as a no-sew solution for light to medium-weight fabric repairs and crafts. For heavy-duty applications such as upholstery or load-bearing seams, traditional stitching is recommended. For standard hems and decorative crafts, using two or more strips side by side provides a much stronger bond on heavier fabrics.
