Find Electrical Faults Fast with the AERMOTOR AL100 Circuit Detector

Stop wasting hours chasing down mystery electrical gremlins. The AERMOTOR AL100 Automotive Short Circuit Detector & Wire Tracer lets mechanics and DIY enthusiasts quickly locate short circuits, open connections, broken wires, current leaks, and intermittent faults — without cutting, piercing, or damaging any wiring insulation. Works on virtually any DC vehicle: cars, trucks, tractors, boats, RVs, and more. Made in Mainland China.

For professional automotive electrical diagnosis tips, visit the OSHA Automotive Industry Safety Resource and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) for safe tool handling guidelines.

Why Choose the AL100?

  • Instantly detect short circuits & open circuits — no guesswork, no wire piercing required
  • 🔍 Non-contact wire tracing technology — works through insulation, panels, carpets, upholstery & conduits
  • 🎯 Direction indicator — points you toward the fault so you can pinpoint the problem location with confidence
  • 🔊 Audible tone signal — change in receiver tone alerts you to intermittent faults even when flexing wires or connectors
  • 🚗 Wide voltage range: 6–42V DC — compatible with modern 42V vehicle systems as well as standard 12V & 24V systems
  • 🛡️ Surge & overload protected — built-in internal protection keeps the tool safe during use
  • 📞 Telephone line capable — identify line state (clear, ring, busy) and trace telephone cables
  • 🔧 7" flexible coiled steel probe — bends to reach wires in congested, tight spaces
  • 🔋 Powered by two 9V batteries (included) — ready to use right out of the box

Key Functions

  1. Wire tracing through bundles, conduits, walls & vehicle panels
  2. Locating short circuits with directional guidance
  3. Detecting open circuit breaks without cutting wires
  4. Wire and cable identification in multi-conductor bundles
  5. Checking wire continuity
  6. Sending single solid or dual alternating tones for cable identification

How It Works

Simply connect the Transmitter in series with the circuit or wire under test — in place of a blown fuse, across a connector, or in series with an open wire or bulb socket. Then scan along the circuit with the Receiver's flexible probe, positioning the black probe tip perpendicular (90°) to the wire for maximum signal pickup. LED indicators on both the Transmitter and Receiver display open or short circuit conditions at a glance. Adjustable sensitivity lets you fine-tune the tool for any tracing situation.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What vehicles is the AERMOTOR AL100 short circuit detector compatible with?

A: The AL100 works on any DC-powered vehicle or system operating between 6 and 42 volts, including standard 12V and 24V cars, trucks, motorcycles, tractors, boats, RVs, and even newer 42V mixed-voltage vehicle systems.

Q: Do I need to cut or pierce wires to use this circuit tracer?

A: No — the AL100 uses non-contact technology. Simply position the flexible receiver probe near or along the wire being traced. There is no need to pierce, cut, or strip any insulation, keeping your wiring harness fully intact.

Q: Can the AL100 detect intermittent electrical faults?

A: Yes. You can flex wires, connectors, and harnesses while the receiver is scanning. Any change in the audible tone signal will immediately alert you to an intermittent open or short circuit problem, making it much easier to find hard-to-reproduce faults.

Q: Are batteries included with the AERMOTOR AL100?

A: Yes. The AL100 comes with two 9V batteries included, so you can begin diagnosing electrical faults right out of the box.
